OUR LANDLINES ARE CURRENTLY DOWN.
All of us have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. With over 1.6m job losses in the first month of lock down in south Africa it was no surprise that many students from Balancingtouch have reported that they have been “let go of” by their fulltime office employers due to coronavirus (regular office work) however, we were moved and encouraged and deeply humbled to know that every person we spoke to that got retrenched in a way was alright because had a skill that can generate them an income. People were calling and wanting to book during lock down and paying for their treatments to book spaces when it is lifted. The one therapist who had only her Swedish massage certificate, made her old salary in 2 weeks with vouchers. Making us even more eager to re-open.
Since the start, We have missed being able to offer you the education that we know you love, and our lecturers are looking forward to seeing you again as soon as possible for all courses.
Balancingtouch’s priority is to keep you as safe as possible, and prior to fully re-opening the Institute we have implemented a number of changes which we would like to make you aware of. During the time the Classes has been shut, we have completed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control course which is accredited by the Guild of Holistic Therapists and the Guild of Therapy Lecturers Ltd, the international trade body for our industry. We have since made a number of changes in the way that we operate that you will notice when attending your next course.
Please note that Balancingtouch will not compromise the safety of its students for any reason and with policy and protocols will ensure health and hygienic environment where individuals can thrive and learn without the distraction of worry or risk of infection
If any of our lecturers feel ill or have symptoms of C0VlD-19, they will self-isolate immediately and not come into academy. Should another credible lecturer not be available during this time, it may mean that we have to re schedule the course at short notice. We appreciate that this may be inconvenient but it is done entirely for your own safety. If your course is moved and doesn’t work for you, you will be able to re-book again later or ask for it to be credited to your account with the school.
If you or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of C0VlD-19 – please advise us as soon as possible and DO NOT COME TO PREMESIS FOR YOUR COURSE. We have amended our Enrolment terms and conditions and you will not be charged for any rescheduled classes/courses which you miss due to proven illness.
You will be sent a pre-screening checklist before your course that we ask that you please fill out honestly and sign before sending it back to us.
Please be understanding, that for the safety and well being of all other students as well as for the well being of the infected or at risk individual, we will not be permitted to receive him/her and will have to by law report them should they attempt to come to class. We will ask that they please stay at home and recover before returning to class after a 14days lapse. The stats reveal that 98% of the time, COVID-19 does not cause complication or require medical attention and less than 1% of cases are fatal. Similar to flu.
ATTENDING YOUR CLASSES
Massage therapy has been classed as an essential service through the medical sectors and although we are beyond the medical scope of practice, we too enforce the hygiene protocols that they use, as the technical approaches are similar in essence. in regard to social distancing we must adhere to the principals, however in the controlled professional setting that implements the Hygiene Protocols policy completely when performing the practical demonstrations.
For your safety and to maintain social distancing and correct hygiene practices, we ask that you arrive for class as close to the scheduled class time as possible. Should a visitor comes without a scheduled meeting or has not gone through our screening, we will need to follow strict hygiene and infection prevention and control procedures to eliminate your risk of potential infection. Please do not turn up early for class as you may come into contact with an unscheduled visitor, or you could interrupt the very strict hygiene and sterilization protocols that we perform routinely, to keep you safe.

DO NOT shake the towels out, once removed from the bed. Once you are home, place them immediately into the washing machine ad wash on 60 degrees C. All disposable items; including wet wipes, gloves must be bagged and safely removed from the academy, or placed immediately in the bin, DO NOT leave them lying around the academy
We have carried out a risk assessment on all courses we offer and we are confident that we can continue to provide these safely. We have decided that the following courses cannot be provided until further notice (Balinese Scalp Massage, as you right in your client’s space).
During your classes
We understand the importance of hand hygiene and we will ensure that we wash our hands in accordance with the Department of Health’s recommendations before and after each practical session. We will try to make your attendance of classes as safe, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you have any concerns about your certain courses, please let us know and we will do what we can to satisfy you.
After the treatment
In order to avoid handling of cash, we would prefer if you could pay for your extras, like oils, charts, etc. via EFT, with POP.
All of these procedures have been implemented for your safety and that of everyone at Balancingtouch. We will continue to take advice from our accreditation board; the Government and the Department of Health regarding safe practice and will amend them as necessary.
